weekend at nana s

the boys and I had a lovely weekend with nana and nena ( as the younger one calls them ) - they have come back all sun-kissed and rosy cheeked .
It was worth the planning and the double-checking and packing that went into it. It was also worth all the 1 million things that i had to remember and carry for the younger one!

the garnet tea house - by alexander volkov

this is one of my favorite paintings by a famous cubist russian master of the last century - alexander volkov .

i like the color , of course , but mainly i find something lyrical about the angle of the neck - in each of the tea drinkers there , something beautiful - my first introduction to cubism . As it turns out I couldnt have picked a better painter .
